How many times have you heard the following: “Attend the church of your choice”? This concept continues to be circulated over and over until many people accept it as fact. They truly believe that there are many denominational faiths found in the pages of the Bible.

The Bible Declares One Faith

Contrary to that common, but erroneous belief the Bible clearly declares that there are not many faiths, but only: “…one faith…” (Ephesians. 4:5). That is stunning news to some people. It is radical, it is extreme; nonetheless it is a foundational principle of God’s word. The idea of “many faiths” did not originate from the mind of God, but it came by the design of man.

God Wants Unity

Man has created division, but God has designed unity among those that follow His word. In reading John 17:20-22 we can see that Jesus prayed for complete unity among believers. In another passage religious division has been specifically forbidden (1 Corinthians 1:10). We are told that unity is good and pleasant (Psalm 122:1). Should we not give diligence to please our God and Creator (Ephesians 4:1-6)?

I Want What God Wants

If God wants unity, we can rest assured that the devil wants man to be divided religiously (Ephesians 6:12). We should want to cease doing everything that causes religious division. For example: stop using denominational names and use only the name of Christian. Also stop following denominational doctrines (creed books, articles of faith, etc.) and follow only what the Bible teaches.

It Is Radical: But Pleasing To God

Jesus was so radical in His teaching that the Bible says that people marveled at His words (Matthew 7:28). His teachings were rejected by many, but they were pleasing to the heavenly Father (Matthew 17:5).
